David W. Hughes focuses his practice on estate planning, probate and trust administration. This includes special needs trusts, guardianships, conservatorships and counseling families in estate planning. An estate plan normally includes a will (although most clients now prefer a revocable trust to evade probate) financial and medical powers of attorney, medical authorizations, and a living will. Dave represented hundreds of parents in adoption cases since beginning his private practice in 1979, including both agency and independent placements in numerous probate courts in eastern Kansas. He also practiced civil litigation, family law (including divorces, prenuptial agreements and collaborative cases) real estate and corporate law. David is a member of the Kansas and Johnson County Bar Associations and Kansas City Estate Planning Society.
